Where you stay in Tuscany shapes the trip more than any single restaurant reservation. Choose the region first, the house second—and let the villa set the tempo.

Choose Chianti if…

You want vines, gravel courts, and a central position between Florence and Siena. Chianti suits wine lovers, mixed-age families, and first-time visitors who want classic countryside without extreme isolation.

Choose the Florence hills if…

Art is non-negotiable but hotel noise is unappealing. Hillside villas keep the Uffizi in reach and the evenings quiet among olives.

Choose Val d’Orcia if…

You want cinematic space, slower days, and estates that feel pastoral. Ideal for groups who prioritise landscape and privacy over frequent city hops.

Choose Maremma & the Tuscan coast if…

Swimming and harbour light matter as much as hill towns. Expect a wilder, saltier Tuscany with inland dinners when you want stone after sand.

What about Lucca, Siena, or Cortona?

These are superb towns to visit. Our current collection is concentrated in Chianti, Val d’Orcia, the Florence hills, and Maremma—so we recommend basing in those regions and visiting other towns as excursions rather than inventing thin inventory we do not hold.

Villa vs hotel

Hotels win for pure walkability inside a historic centre. Villas win for privacy, kitchens, pools, and the feeling that Tuscany is lived rather than toured. Many of our guests combine one city overnight with a longer villa stay.
